In 1985, Prof. Dr. Wolfang Mühlbauer came up with the idea of cushioning the high treatment costs for patients with privately generated funds (donations). Supported by founding member Dr. Antje Kühnemann was awarded the VFBB - Association for the Promotion of the Treatment of Burn Injury e.V. Founded as a partner of the Clinic for Plastic, Reconstructive, Hand, and Burn Surgery at the Munich Bogenhausen Clinic.

From 2010 to 2023, Prof. Dr. med. univ. Milomir Ninkovic as 1st Chairman of the VFBB e.V. Since 2003 as Chief Physician of the Clinic for Plastic, Reconstructive, Hand and Burn Surgery at the Munich Clinic Bogenhausen,He strengthened the ongoing partnership between the clinic and our association.

He and his entire team operated on burn victims within the framework of the VFBB e.V. without charging a fee, steadily expanding the scope of the VFBB e.V. and thereby receiving continued international attention.

This background has since motivated all volunteers to always give their best for the association and its work. This concentrated energy ensures the long-term implementation of our association goals. Responsibility for these tasks and their continuous fulfillment are maintained, supported and implemented by a specially formed working group, which since 2023 has been under the leadership of the new 1st BoardProf. Dr. med. Niclas Broer, MD, FACS, FEBOPRAS, MHBA. Due to his outstanding qualifications in the field of plastic and aesthetic surgery, Prof. Dr. med. Broer was previously part of Prof. Dr. med. Univ. Ninkovic was entrusted with cases that found their way to the Münk through the association. We consider ourselves fortunate to have gained a more than worthy successor to Prof. Dr. med. Univ. Ninkovic for our cause.

 

Our Club goals

• Supporting severely burned children and destitute adults by covering hospital and treatment costs.

• Promoting research and intensifying the exchange of experience on the latest treatment methods and rehabilitation, as well as implementing these findings.

• The Informing the public about advances in the prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of skin and burn injuries.
